10. Parco Catullo
Now enter the green Parco Catullo, which in the medieval period was known as Trans Mincio. During the Middle Ages, this park was used for growing vegetables to sustain life within the fortress.
In front of you, you can see the Command Building of the Stronghold (Palazzina Storica) from 1854. Today, this monument houses the Museum dedicated to the Inter-Allied Conference of November 11, 1917, a meeting that changed the course of World War I.
The King of Italy, Vittorio Emanuele III, gathered all the commanders of the allied forces and convinced them that, despite the defeat at Caporetto, the Italian army would hold out. He dictated the strategies that contributed to the victory in the Great War.
Inside the Palazzina Storica, important exhibitions of classical and contemporary art are hosted annually.
